Unbroken

"Unbroken" is a companion piece to the image, "Love". They both deal with the same subject but in a way they are bookends to the multifaceted nature of love.
"Love" captures the essence of utopian love, reminiscent of the honeymoon phase. It's a 1000 watts of blinding light that strikes young (and old) love birds and turns their hearts and stomachs into a pretzel of equal part bliss and anxiety. It's not realistic long term love, but it's a sincere and exquisite chapter in a couple's life when the other can do no wrong and where the force of this intoxicating emotion can move mountains.
That's where Unbroken comes in. This is love that has been around the block and has stood the test of time. It has seen things, witnessed the complexities of life and the realities of long-term commitments
But if you're lucky, despite its encounters with the harshness of the world, this love still retains its inherent beauty. It's still firmly grounded and it's still strong, nurtured by the joint efforts of both partners. Like in the image Unbroken, the strength of this love lies in the hands of two individuals who understand that it takes mutual dedication and care to sustain it and to hold it up. 
Yet, when this love thrives, it becomes an even more powerful and meaningful force than its utopian counterpart. Its depth and resilience give it the ability to withstand the trials of life, forging a connection that is profound and unwavering. It is a testament to the lasting beauty that can be found within a love that has matured.
In essence, "Love" and "Unbroken" illuminate the diverse dimensions of love. While "Love" encapsulates the intoxicating passion of the early stages, "Unbroken" delves into the profound strength of love that endures. Together, these photographs offer a captivating exploration of the human experience, reminding us that love, in all its forms, is a remarkable and transformative force.

Although there is some digital manipulation in this series, the unusual lighting and surreal quality in the Light Painting series is achieved by using colored lights during long exposures. They are not digital effects.
