There was some excitement in my studio today, as an abc news crew set up and shot for most of the day. They were taping segments for the Emmy Award winning program, The Ñ Beat, hosted by the effervescent Theresa Gutierrez with producer Edgar Vargas. The show celebrates the accomplishments of Chicago’s Spanish speaking community. I wasn’t interviewed – the reporters used my gallery space as a backdrop for their introductions to show segments. It was great fun having the whole crew here!!
AND this week, I added some rock royalty to my list of celebrity collectors. Jim Peterik of the bands Survivor and Ides of March bought 2 large Alley pieces for his home. Survivor was huge in the 80’s selling millions of albums, and earning a Grammy Award followed by an Academy Award nomination.
AND, AND, AND more great news!! My studio and gallery will be open to the public Oct 1-3 as part of the 40th Annual Pilsen East Artists Open House. The event coincides with Chicago Artists month, with open studio walking tours taking place all over the city. And best of all, the Oct 1st Opening Night Gala for the month-long celebration will take place at 2003 S. Halsted St, just half a block from my studio!
Open studio hours will be: Friday Oct. 1st, 6-10pm (same as Opening Night Gala hours) Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2nd & 3rd, 12-7pm My studio and gallery is at 1932 S. Halsted St, #402
