New Images, New Shows
A rose is a rose
I'm excited to release several new images in the Crystal series
! (There are more at the end of this post). More will be released next month, along with several Alleys & Ruins pictures I shot recently in Houston and DC.
The Crystal photographs are extreme close ups of chinaware that I re-glaze and re-paint. I've been working (slowly!) on this series for over 20 years.
My exhibit at Galerie Lichtblick
in Cologne, Germany opened this weekend. The exhibit, The Night
, features four photographers’ perceptions of the night; I contributed four large pieces from the Alleys & Ruins series. From the show description: “The images are on the edge between document and fiction, between found and staged moments in urban spaces.” The show runs until July 21.
Three of my Alley pieces will be included in a group show, Art After Dark: Artists and Artificial Lighting, at the Asheville Art Museum
from June 29-October 27, 2013.
The exhibit will feature six artists who create images in the dark hours of the night utilizing artificial light or who use the night as inspiration for creating dream-like images.
The opening reception will be June 29 from 5-8pm. The event is open to the public, so drop by if you are in the area! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend. The museum is located at 2 South Pack Square, Asheville, NC
And last week, I attended the opening reception of my group show at the Illinois State Museum
, Lockport Gallery. The show, Fragile Relations: Art, Nature and Environment
, first opened at the State Museum's Chicago Gallery in October of 2012, and is now travelling throughout the museum's network of galleries. It will be at the Lockport Gallery from May 25 – October 25, 2013, then on to the Southern Illinois Art Gallery in 2014 and the Springfield Museum after that.
I'm exhibiting three Alleys & Ruins
images and three Glam Bug
The show was featured on ABC-TV
in Oct 2012, and was the Chicago Tribune’s
A&E Pick of the Week in Dec.

A universe beckons
