The shoot in Indianapolis went well - I should say great, because I just got the film and pictures back from the lab today, and I’m very, VERY pleased. But I’ll say “well” because I’m my own worst critic.
It was a dirty shoot, and another smooth adventure. Dave Evans and I went crawling around and under tight spaces in the dirt. For one shot, I placed the tripod on top of a pile of old rotting garbage, which lay next to an old rotting dumpster, which lay in the back of an old rotting building. Dave took some shots, including this one of me holding a polaroid of one of the shots I took, standing in front of what I shot.
Polaroid, Inc stopped making its famous instant film last month. They were one of the industry powerhouses, but were swept away by the digital tidal wave. The now old-fashioned way to see what you were doing when shooting was to do test polaroids. My Hasselblad cameras are modular - you can remove the film back and replace it with a Polaroid back, so your test is an exact duplicate of the final film shot. I have some of the last Polaroid film, and will have to start buying Fuji’s instant film when I run out. I pray I can continue to shoot my art the way I always have. Half my Alleys get a test shot so I can see whats going on with the lighting, especially if I’m lighting it myself. I still shoot all my Alleys with film - I have a 10 year supply of my favorite film in the freezer. Film will still get you the best image, which is what I’ve always strived for. I could become very depressed if I was cornered into compromising the quality of my work. Celluloid can be frozen to last for years, but instant film doesn’t have that advantage. For the time being, though, I can work the way I want to.
Here are the 2 polaroids I shot in Indianapolis.
And here are some more of Dave’s shots.

Thanks Tatjana! I know I have a good shot when the pola looks good, cause they usually don’t and they have to be interpreted…
