On the Central Valley

March 31st, 2008 · No Comments

I made it back home after an exciting week in L.A.

The fastest route between LA and the Bay Area is Interstate 5, which runs along California’s Central Valley. I’ve driven this route maybe a dozen times, and at this time of year it is blossoming with green hills and sprouting crops. This massive and incredibly fertile valley is one of the world’s great gardens. A quarter of the food Americans eat is grown in the Central Valley, yet much of the water is delivered by a vast series of canals and dams.
