Got in at midnight, picked up my un-stolen van in the long term parking, and drove to my booth site in downtown Des Moines. No one was around and I was hungry. Restaurants in Des Moines? at midnight? are you kidding? Nothing was opened (I asked)… Well, one place was open: a gas station. So I ate a couple of their finest hot dogs. Then it was off to the Ford E-250 Hilton and, as always, a pretty good night’s sleep.
Now I’m downtown, set up, relaxed, and whistling that tune I need to whistle at home before leaving to catch my flights. Des Moines may be a small place, but it has one of the most sought after shows in the country, and I can see why. The city pours its heart into it and people can’t wait to come and see (and buy!) art.
I was interviewed by the Des Moines Registry (the city’s daily paper), and I will be the featured artist in the Saturday edition. So… its time to chill and enjoy the great gypsy lifestyle of the travelling artist!
