I drove back to Ann Arbor, MI from Louisville, KY last night. I took a long nap today and woke up find it had been another miserable day at the stock market. What are we in for??
This was shot in 1985, on a happy family vacation in Cape Cod, MA. I call it “Friends”

Crazy Cat
September 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment
I’ve always had pets: cats or dogs usually… and I’ve always loved them…
But this is the craziest cat I’ve ever had, Frankie. And I’m talking evil-crazy. One day I’m stirring from my sleep - I was in college at the time. I open one eye and see Frankie sitting 12 inches away on my bed, staring […]

Happy (nuclear) ending
September 24th, 2008 · No Comments
I have an unhealthy obsession with nuclear war and its aftermath - this influence is clearly stamped on my work. I can’t help it… I’d rather not have this obsession (I watched Terminator 3 for the 4th time today), but the fact remains that I believe in my lifetime at least one major city somewhere […]

San Diego, CA

This is a very beautiful city… almost too much so. I went looking for a little urban decay today but couldn’t find much. I did find an area that I’ll be exploring further tomorrow night. A detective with the San Diego Police Dept, who I met last year and is a fan of my work, had […]

Portland, OR

Wow, what a fantastic show in Portland… Art in the Pearl! Its a great city with great people…
And wow… I didn’t get a single alley shot. Saturday night I was fired up - ready to dive into Portland’s darker, grittier corners looking for diamonds in the rough. I drove and walked around with Pam for 4 […]

Architectural photography
August 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments
I had a commercial photography career before becoming a full-time artist - in fact it paid for all the money I was losing as an artist. The vast majority of my jobs were, coincidentally, architectural. I would shoot interiors and exteriors for design and architectural firms and for decor magazines. During the day I would shoot expensive […]

Kennedy Center / Shepherd’s Table
August 19th, 2008 · No Comments
I’ve just learned my work will be used as the backdrop for a benefit concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on November 8th. The concert is a fundraiser for Shepherd’s Table, a nonprofit organization that helps people who are homeless or in need of basic services.

Lake Del Valle
August 17th, 2008 · No Comments
I went to Lake Del Valle with Pam on Saturday… there’s nothing like lake swimming.
The area was not what I’m accustomed to in the East. Grass here grows naturally in the winter, for 2 months, then dries to a crisp for the rest of the year. This huge man-made lake (its actually a reservoir that provides water […]

It’s Nature… watch your back!!

A small storm accompanied me on part of my trip to Chicago last night.
On my way to Ann Arbor from Minneapolis a few days ago, a massive storm gathered on the horizon as I drove down I-94. Lightning strikes were occurring more than once per second - I don’t think I’d ever seen that before. The sky […]

Shooting in the Twin Cities
August 5th, 2008 · 5 Comments
I’m in Ann Arbor, MI (a little dazed and confused) for a few days before heading for Chicago for the Gold Coast show. Despite the slowing economy, my shows continue going strong and I’m eternally grateful!
In the Twin Cities this weekend, I went out shooting two nights in St. Paul, and I’m thrilled with the shots. I […]
