Ok, its been a couple of days so I’m not crazily freaking out anymore, but I’ll still use exclamation marks. My van got busted into AGAIN!!!!! Thats 2 times in 3 days!!! Monday I was thanking people for not stealing stuff from me.
“Hey, I really wanna thank you for not stealing my chair while I was away.”
“Thanks for not picking my wallet, that was real thoughful of you”
I’ve installed a new security system. Upon breaking in, a small thermonuclear device explodes. That’ll be the last time anyone breaks into that van…
A few things were stolen this time, including radio and gps (but thank god my camera equipment was at my friend Phil’s both times). The insurance will pay for most of it with a small deductible.
But thats old news… The show went great and I got a night of shooting in - I went to Gary, IN. Wow what a run down place that is. I’d never seen this before: maybe a mile of boarded up buildings, along downtown’s main street, Broadway. I went with Phil Blass, who I’d been staying with most of the time. He was my assistant in Ann Arbor, MI and now lives in Chicago, studying video art at Columbia College.
I’m now back in Ann Arbor, MI. Here are pictures of some of the joy I got to experience in Chicago (its still one of the all-time great cities!).
First break in, on Friday (during the day, with the car alarm blasting).
Second break-in, on Sunday, in a different parking lot (during the day, with the car alarm blasting).

Jesus! You should install an invisible spike system around it, too. It might help.

[…] had my Sirius satellite radio stolen out of my van in Chicago during a recent Steal-Xavier’s-stuff rampage (2 break-ins in 3 days). I went to eBay and bought one. Then forgetting I’d already ordered […]
