Chicago, Chicago

April 23rd, 2008 · 4 Comments

Well I set up most of my booth - show starts tomorrow - then went for a nice walk taking pictures around Chicago (see below). What a great city. It shares an interesting quality with New York. There’s a lot of steel in its infrastructure (and I don’t mean the buildings). It looks like it was meant to take a beating, and it has taken a beating. Its old and weathered - I love it.

Then I went for drinks with my friend, Jason O’Beirne, who’s gone shooting with me. He is proof that nothing makes sense. He has a degree in Mathematics and Physics, but works as a real estate agent, however his first love is playing his guitar. He goes to New Orleans tomorrow to perfom at the Jazz Fest there. While discussing physics with him (a favourite subject of mine) I mentioned an amazing web site that gives you an inkling of what other dimensions may be like. Its based on the book “Imagining the tenth dimension.” And the best part: you mainly watch video!

The rowers picture just takes my breath away. Just like all your photos do. lol.

I’m going to have to agree with you: it does seem the midwest has cities that were asking for a beating. Everytime I drive through Cleveland, I start to tweak because of all the abandoned warehouses that are just sitting there.

Wow, Xavier, you have a great eye, I love your work. Thanks for posting a link to my animation. The Imagining the Tenth Dimension project has been a real labor of love for me, always nice to see I’ve connected with someone. I am posting a link to your blog entry in the Interesting Links section of my tenth dimension blog.
By the way, a lot of people have questions after watching the animation, if you type tenth dimension faq into google you should find a blog listing the most commonly asked questions.

    Keep up the great work!

I think I’ve seen these photos before. Either it was in a dream or in a fantasy. I was actually in that rowboat. Maybe it was a song about a countertop.
